Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition characterized by excessive sweating in specific body areas like the armpits, palms, or feet. This condition can be embarrassing and disrupt daily activities. Regardless of body temperature, many individuals experience excessive underarm sweating. Botulinum toxin treatment is an effective method that can enhance the client’s quality of life by injecting botulinum toxin into the axilla/underarms where the toxin blocks signals from nerves that trigger sweating, preventing the sweat glands from producing excessive sweat.

Most clients require only one botulinum toxin treatment under each arm to see a decrease in sweating. The procedure usually takes about 30-45 minutes, and it is generally very safe with minor potential side effects. Depending on the client, subsequent treatments are typically needed 4-6 months after the initial treatment. However, just like in most cases that involve botulinum toxin treatments, in time, our clients can go longer before requiring additional treatments. In some cases, a single axillary hyperhidrosis treatment can last up to 12 months.

Aliette Aesthetics axillary hyperhidrosis treatments utilize the botulinum toxin to impair sweat glands, disrupting the release of neurotransmitters from cholinergic nerves under the arms. This treatment is fast and non-invasive and injections effectively and substantially reduce sweating in most patients. The botulinum toxin injection is administered about every 1.5-2 cm in the axillary/armpit area, requiring about 15-20 injections to each armpit.  You may see results in as little as 3-5 days after treatment. However, it will take 2 weeks to see the full effects of this type of treatment for hyperhidrosis.
